Welcome to the Education Week Resource Page! Here, you’ll find a collection of printable activities, curated book lists, and engaging online resources to bring the spirit of Education Week into your classroom. Whether you’re looking for fun learning materials or inspiration for your students, we’ve got you covered.     • The story of a young girl’s introduction to one of Nature’s most spectacular events, the Northern Lights.
  • The Darkest Dark by Chris Hatfield, read by NTV’s Michael Connors
    • A touching story about a young Chris Hadfield conquering his fear and realizing his dreams
  • A Long Way Home by Jean Little, read by NTV’s Toni-Marie Wiseman
    • A tale of childhood curiosity with themes of immigration, friendship and the wonder of the natural world.
  • Sam and Dave by Mac Barnett, read by NL Rogues Player Myles Roper 
    • A story about two boys who are determined to dig and find something spectacular.
  • Kimmy and Mike by Dave Paddon, read by Out of the Fog’s Lori-Lydia Loveless
    • A funny Newfoundland and Labrador tall tale about a brother and sister who set out to find some fish for their father’s supper.

Sing Along!

  • The Swinging Belles, Laura Winter and Erin Power, have created a special video of their song So Much Beauty especially for Education Week! When they are not preforming as the Swinging Belles, Laura and Erin are teachers at Bishop Feild Elementary School in St. John’s.
