The NLTA has prepared a detailed submission to government outlining why now is the time to invest in education.
The full submission is available for you to review by clicking here. Hard copies of the submission are also being sent directly to schools. Administrators and teachers are encouraged to share them with their school councils and parents.
As part of the government’s pre-budget consultations it has posted online a pre-budget questionnaire. This questionnaire can be found at:
https://www.engagenl.ca/engagement-initiatives/pre-budget-2018-general-public-questionnaire
In order to complete the questionnaire individuals are required to register with Engage NL.

In his introduction, Minister Tom Osbourne has assured all Newfoundlanders and Labradoreans that their submissions will be anonymous. As citizens, teachers have every right to engage in public policy discussions regarding the provincial budget, including pre-budget consultations. The NLTA has reviewed the online questionnaire and there is no reason for any teacher to feel concerned about completing this document. It takes approximately five minutes to register and complete the questionnaire.
The Association needs all teachers to take the time to complete this questionnaire in support of our efforts to promote a properly funded public education system. All groups that lobby government must, from time to time, demonstrate that they do in fact have the support of their members. Your silence could be used against us in this regard. If you are tired of seeing students fall behind or not receive the supports they need and deserve please take five minutes to complete the questionnaire. We also recommend that you actively encourage parents, guardians and other members of your school community to do the same.
As always thank you for your support.
Dean Ingram
President, NLTA
