NLTA Reacts to Resignation of NLFSC President

St. John’s, NL… The Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association would like to thank Peter Whittle for his service as President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Federation of School Councils to education and students in this province.

“Peter has been, and I have no doubt will continue to be, a strong advocate on education matters,” says Jim Dinn, President of the NLTA. “While he and I have had significant disagreement on issues from time to time, there is no debating his passion for improving our education system and our schools for students and teachers alike.”

Mr. Whittle has stated publicly that there may be possible interference by the Minister of Education in his resignation and if this is in fact true, it causes some concern and further investigation is necessary. We would hope that the Premier would follow up on this possible interference and address it accordingly.
