Education Week 2019, March 3-9

St. John’s, NL… Education Week in Newfoundland and Labrador is scheduled for March 3-9. This year’s theme, Go The Extra Mile: Aller plus loin, was chosen to celebrate the importance of education and learning and means doing the best that you can in whatever you do.

“The NLTA has been sponsoring Education Week for 83 years and we are pleased to again promote the work of teachers and students in this province,” states Dean Ingram, President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association. “It is the teachers of this province, along with the many other partners in education, who are responsible for the tremendous successes of our students.”

The Opening Ceremonies for Education Week will be held at Memorial Academy, Botwood, 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 4. NLTA President Dean Ingram, Mr. Scott Simms, Member of Parliament for the riding of Coast of Bays-Central-Notre Dame, and Bronson Collins, Assistant Director of Education (Programs) Central Region with NLESD, will address the audience.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association sponsors Education Week in this province and the event is organized by a provincial committee of teacher volunteers. In recent years the emphasis for Education Week has been placed on encouraging parents, community members and the public to become involved in education, along with teachers and students.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association would like to wish everyone a great Education Week.
