Your Collective Bargaining Committee for the next round of provincial negotiations will soon be appointed. We are seeking input from the membership through a number of sources. June 1-5 has been designated as "Collective Bargaining Submission Week". All teachers are strongly encouraged to fill out the form provided below before the deadline date of June 5. It is only through teachers' input and direction that a comprehensive set of opening proposals can be developed reflecting the priorities of teachers in Newfoundland and Labrador. ADVOCACY - to change "what is" into "what should be". The Canadian Teachers' Federation (CTF) is encouraging teachers at the grassroots to get involved and to think federally and act locally in their ridings in this federal election and even beyond October 19. The HEAR MY VOICE campaign enables individual teacher voices to join with their teacher colleagues and advocate on behalf of children and their families.

Pre-Retirement SeminarsNLTA Pre-Retirement Seminars

Teachers within two years of retirement eligibility should register for one of the five Pre-Retirement Seminars scheduled for the fall of 2015. One will be held in Corner Brook, one in Grand Falls-Windsor and three in St. John's. The sessions will deal with topics such as the Teachers' Pension Plan, Severance Pay, Employment Insurance, Group Insurance, Financial and Estate Planning and the Canada Pension Plan.

The Technology Special Interest Council (TESIC) aims to highlight one teacher a month that goes above and beyond to make a positive difference for their school and community by integrating technology in their classrooms and in a meanful way. Selected individulas will also be eligible for further recognition at our Bi-Annual General Meeting.
