NLTA CONGRATULATES NEWLY ELECTED SCHOOL BOARD TRUSTEES

St. John’s…The NLTA congratulates all candidates who ran in the School Board elections for the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District (NLESD) and le Conseil scolaire francophone provincial de Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador (CSFP). For the first time in many years the people of Newfoundland and Labrador were given the opportunity to choose the decision makers that oversee the public education system and it is clear that they wanted a change in how the education system is being managed.

“A deep understanding of the public school system and the need to invest in that system is vital to our education system,” says Jim Dinn, President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association. “We look forward to working with the new Trustees in this capacity.”

It is important to have strong advocates for education who will speak for investment in our schools and have an understanding of the concerns about class size, inclusive education, resourcing of full day kindergarten and combined grading.
