St. John’s, NL… Education Week in Newfoundland and Labrador is scheduled for February 11-17, 2018. This year, Education Week coincides with Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week and Janeway Day in the Schools.

“The NLTA has been sponsoring Education Week for over 80 years and we are pleased to again promote the work of teachers and students in this province,” states Dean Ingram, President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association. “Education Week is about celebrating learning and acknowledging how important education is to the future of our province.”

The Opening Ceremonies for Education Week will be held at Laval High School in Placentia at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 12. NLTA President Dean Ingram, the Honourable Dale Kirby, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, and Tony Stack, CEO of the Newfoundland and Labrador English School District, will address the audience.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association sponsors Education Week in this province and the event is organized by a provincial committee of teacher volunteers. In recent years the emphasis for Education Week has been placed on encouraging parents, community members and the public to become involved in education, along with teachers and students.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association would like to wish everyone a great Education Week.
