St. John’s, NL… Education Week in Newfoundland and Labrador is scheduled for February 12-18, 2017. This year’s theme is Seeds of Learning • Semer les graines. Again this year, Education Week coincides with Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week.

“The NLTA has been sponsoring Education Week for 80 years and we are pleased to again promote the work of teachers and students in this province,” states James Dinn, President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association. “It is the teachers of this province, along with the many other partners in education, who are responsible for the tremendous successes of our students.”

The Opening Ceremonies for Education Week will be held at Holy Cross School Complex in Eastport at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 13. NLTA President James Dinn and the Honourable Dale Kirby, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development, will address the audience.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association sponsors Education Week in this province and the event is organized by a provincial committee of teacher volunteers. In recent years the emphasis for Education Week has been placed on encouraging parents, community members and the public to become involved in education, along with teachers and students.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association would like to wish everyone a great Education Week.
