National Teachers’ Association Presidents To Meet In St. John’s

St. John’s, NL…..The national presidents from all the provincial teachers’ organizations will be meeting in St. John’s from May 29 – June 1.

The union leaders will be in St. John’s to meet concerning educational reform, relationships with ministries of education, inclusive education, austerity budgets, teacher mental health and wellness, as well as other topics of importance to teachers and education.

“We are pleased to host the meeting of national presidents of teachers’ unions and associations from across Canada,” says James Dinn, President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers’ Association. “The meeting is an important opportunity for teacher union leaders to get together and address the common challenges faced by teachers across Canada, challenges which have an impact on the learning environment of students and the teaching environment of educators.”

The business meetings will take place at JAG Hotel in St. John’s starting on Monday and conclude on Tuesday at noon. The national presidents will also get to experience some of the Newfoundland and Labrador hospitality and culture.
